Arranging care for my mother abroad
Woman (38)
Mother lives abroad
I’ve been living in the Netherlands for quite some time. My mother and some of my siblings still live abroad. When my mother became ill, I went to her right away to help. My siblings and I all wanted to be there for her, but it was difficult to keep an overview. We tried to keep each other updated through our WhatsApp group, but that quickly became a mix of social messages and updates about our mother. Because of that, we lost track of things and often had to ask for information again.
Sometimes we recorded conversations with doctors on our phones and listened back to them later. But that took a lot of time and was impractical, especially when we wanted to share the information with each other. We realised we needed a way to gather information faster and more clearly, without having to explain everything again and again.
Since we started using Ditto, we record the conversations with the doctors and automatically get a clear summary. We share that directly with the family, so everyone knows exactly what was discussed. That saves so much time and stress. We can now focus better on our mother and be sure that we don’t forget anything or pass on incorrect information. For families who are caring for a parent together from a distance, it’s really a great solution.
